Thursday, April 22, 2010 Earth Day 2010!
Please join us for an Earth Day Celebration at Western Kentucky University on April 22, 2010.
Come out and see Kentucky’s First Digester, which is located at the WKU campus farm on Nashville Road in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
There will be informational tours of this innovative Bio-Mass solution, a continuous flow digester offering chemical free, off-the-grid power and revenue solutions to the agriculture industry - specific to farms. Transform problematic manure into methane for clean renewable energy and use what remains for odor and pathogen free soil amendment on fields, gardens, plants, and lawns.
Tours will be conducted from 9:00-11:00 a.m. April 22,
in 30 minute increments. We look forward to seeing you there!
Celebrate the 40th Anniversary of Earth Day at the WKU Earth Day Festival, hosted by the WKU Office of Sustainability and WKU Recycling. A full day of activities and events is scheduled, beginning with a focus on sustainability technology projects at the WKU Farm.
Learn about Organic Alchemy’s digester, Kentucky’s first, which uses manure to generate energy,
and see the WKU Engineering Department’s biodiesel facility, where they are turning used cooking oil to fuel for the farm vehicles. Tours will be conducted from 9:00 to 11:00 am, in 30 minute increments. To participate, go directly to the farm where signs will direct visitors to each site.
The Earth Day Festival begins at noon on the main campus, in the Downing University Center Courtyard, continuing into the early evening.
